Somewhere Inside
Somewhere inside
Another part of me comes alive.
Somewhere inside
Old, deeply buried yearnings well up
awakening things long forgotten
from lost loves and bittersweet memories.
Somewhere inside
Watching her entering this room, my life,
brings joy and hopes of new beginnings,
fresh dreams of what could be.
Somewhere inside
I wonder, should I? Could we?
Just more of the same? Or something
better, more beautiful than before.
Somewhere inside
A chance is taken, battered shields are dropped
A heart and mind is slowly opened,
to let in the burning fire of her offered love.
Somewhere inside
A merging occurs, a bonding
Of pain and pleasure, of shared hopes,
and aspirations for what might be.
Somewhere inside
Great happiness, looks to the future
Plans created by heart and mind,
and dreams made of future times.
Somewhere inside
Small at first, but slowly growing
A pain begins, a quiet fear
of things dawning on the horizon.
Somewhere inside
The times spent together lessen
She's always busy with something,
a little too busy to call or write.
Somewhere inside
The bonds begin to unravel
Bit by bit, almost unseen, but not unfelt,
in the day to day struggle of existence.
Somewhere inside
Another part of me dies.
