Soft Love
They met so many years gone past,
As children then, but years flew fast.
So anxious for adulthoods pleasure,
Naive and young, without full measure.
And yet, their hearts held fast a vow,
That kept them close, both then and now.
A children’s promise, softly made,
One summers day, by shady glade.
To love and honor, treasure, cherish,
Whether time stood still, or both should perish.
They drifted far, their vow forgotten,
A thing of children, mere wisp of cotton.
The years rolled past, their families grew,
The vow, deep hidden, but no less true.
Their children, much as once were they,
Grew up, found love, and moved away.
They found themselves alone and lost,
Their spouses gone, hearts tragic cost.
They wept in bitter, silent grief,
Time stole their lives, a silent thief.
Till Fate stepped in to lend a hand,
And crossed their paths upon the sand.
Old man, old woman, a windswept beach,
She tripped and fell, his hand did reach.
He pulled her up, so close, unbidden,
They felt the spark, so deeply hidden.
Two strangers now, but not to be,
As friendship grew beside the sea.
A vow deep hidden, but no less true,
Came out of hiding, much stronger grew.
Till late one night, soft sandy beach,
They found the love within their reach.
He touched her softly, felt her shiver,
And as they touched, it made him quiver.
Softly, slowly, hearts aflame,
He knew they'd never feel the same.
All others dimmed, within his sight,
As she undressed by pale moonlight.
Silken skin, soft silver glow,
Within his heart, he felt love grow.
Much stronger, deeper, finer still,
At sight of her, his heart did fill.
In sweet starlight, they made soft love,
And twined their hearts by Him above.
So like wild geese, two birds of feather,
Together then, as now, forever...
