Shattered Dreams and Haunted Twilights

Sitting here in the sand,

Watching the surf,

Dreaming of bygone days.

And the many shattered dreams,

Of that which might have been.

Listening to seagulls cry,

As sadness wells from deep within,

Feeling the cold sea breeze,

It's bitter breath harsh and caressing,

Like the haunted twilight's that chill my soul.

Seeing this lonely beach,

Once so full of life,

Now barren and bereft of joy,

Much as I have slowly become,

Adrift on the shore of loves lost embrace.

Sitting here in the sand,

Feeling the surf swirl around me,

As it carries me off and pulls me under,

Bringing an end to things that might have been,

And the shattered dreams and haunted twilights.
