Flesh and Blood
My friend, you soothe my weary heart,
With your whispers in the night.
You bring forth tears of happiness,
With words like candlelight.
Good friend, the kindness of your heart,
Like mist, it cloaks me well.
It shields me from life's daily angst,
And nights of bitter hell.
But friend, the thing you ask from me,
Is a thousand tales of woe.
The pain and sadness handed me,
By the people that I know.
Sweet friend, with heart of flesh and blood,
Not plastic, steel, or wood.
The things I've locked down deep inside,
Might sear your heart for good.
So friend of mine, please ask me not,
For the things I've locked away.
From this I'll always shelter you,
Both tomorrow, and today.
My friend, with heart so much like mine,
I'll never tell you all.
It's a kindness I return to you,
My softhearted Barbie Doll.
